MADISON (WKOW) -- Goodwill opened the doors of its new store on Madison's west side Thursday.
The location is marking a milestone for Goodwill's effort to expand mission programs and serve the community.
The president and CEO of Goodwill in South Central Wisconsin, Michelle Harris, says the store's location offers the opportunity to bring in funds to support those goals.
"Every donation, every purchase people make goes back into helping our mission so it's a really good cause," said Harris.
Harris says one of the things that the stores are good at doing, is reducing the amount of waste in landfills.
She says that last year, 15.6 million pounds of items were saved from going into the trash.
