MADISON (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin veteran is thanking the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides Program after she received a newly refurbished car.

Heather Gautsch is back in the U.S. after serving overseas in Iraq.

She currently works to help other veterans in the community.

She assists with case management serving veterans who are needing work, and suffering hardships and disabilities. Gautsch's current vehicle is unreliable, which makes her volunteer service difficult.

Gautsch says this car will allow her to continue her volunteer work and outreach.

"It's super important because, just like my battle buddies were there for me when I was serving and getting out of the military, I'm tryin' to just pay it forward and be there for those people as well," said Gautsch.
