Former Biden White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s newly announced book detailing her work in a “broken” White House and her decision to become an independent garnered criticism from former colleagues who say she was often an ineffective messenger and the book is unhelpful to Democrats trying to rebuild following last year’s election losses.

On Wednesday, Legacy Lit announced the acquisition of Jean-Pierre’s book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” which the publisher says will detail “the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision.” The book is set for release on Oct. 21.
