CHICAGO — Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize threw 64 pitches in his first two innings of work, but he didn't allow the Chicago White Sox to score in those frames.
He stranded the baes loaded — twice.
The 28-year-old eventually gave up two runs, and although the Tigers clawed back, the White Sox stole the show in the 10 inning. The Tigers lost, 3-2, in the finale of four games at Rate Field, splitting the series. With one out in the bottom of the 10th, Tim Elko hit a walk-off single off right-handed reliever Beau Brieske.
