The city of Minneapolis will pay $900,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by a person who, at age 16, was sexually assaulted multiple times by a Minneapolis police officer.
In 2017 David Edward Campbell was charged with seven counts of criminal sexual conduct and was later convicted and sentenced to serve 57 months in prison.
The girl Campbell assaulted was dating Campbell’s son at the time and was living with the Campbell family. Evidence presented at trial showed Campbell committed some of the acts of criminal sexual conduct while in uniform and in or near his squad car.
Campbell is now 66 and is under the supervision of Hennepin County Community Corrections.
