BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WNDU) - A group of nearly 40 southwest Michigan students just got done with an immersive learning experience.

They toured multiple states in the south on a civil rights tour.

The final stop brought them back home to the Martin Luther King monument in Benton Harbor.

The march began at Benton Harbor High School Thursday morning.

Community leaders prayed over the group before it began.

School leaders say the march helps prevent violence among kids in the community.

“The students now understand the importance of non-violence and the importance of peace and promoting peace. They have peace, the schools will have peace, if the schools have peace the community will have peace our home will have more peace. We want them to create that safe haven and peace within,” said
