It’s CPR and AED Awareness week and the American Heart Association has launched a movement in an effort to double the survival rate of those who suffer from sudden cardiac arrest.

According to the American Heart Association, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals each year and over 10,000 happen in workplaces.

The Nation of Lifesavers movement hopes to double that survival rate by 2030.

Tim Ryan, VP, ADP says, “It’s heartbreaking when you arrive and somebody has had a cardiac arrest and people that love them are just standing there because they don’t know what to do.”

Ryan is a certified CPR and AED trainer.

Ryan says, “The difference you will make in somebody’s life that you love, a friend, a co-worker, will be monumental."
