HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (WTOC) - Coastal Carolina Medical Center was recently named as South Carolina’s first Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation.

To receive that title, CCMC underwent a long assessment process. Some of the requirements included surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment.

Dr. Eric Gwynn is a Urologic Surgeon at CCMC and has performed robotic surgeries since 2005.

“We’re pretty proud of the fact that we’re the first and only center in the state to be a robotic Center of Excellence,” said Dr. Gwynn.
