CLEVELAND (WKBN) -- Cleveland Guardians ace pitcher Shane Bieber will not throw for one week after experiencing soreness following a bullpen session on Tuesday.
In a release, the Guardians say that Bieber will be reexamined next week to determine his readiness to continue his return to pitch progresssion.
Bieber underwent Tommy John surgery after making just two starts last season for the Guardians.
He re-signed with the Guardians on a one-year, $14 million free agent deal in December.
In seven seasons in Cleveland, Bieber has posted a record of 62-32 with a 3.22 ERA. He has struck out 958 batters in 843 innings of work.
