KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A funk musician takes the stage Thursday night to kick off Kentwood’s summer concert series.
The concerts take place each Thursday through August behind Kentwood City Hall at the end of the weekly farmers market held there. The market runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and concerts begin at 7 p.m.
The kickoff celebrates the 11th year of the Kentwood Farmers Market and features Tony Thompson and Friends, who play soul, funk, Motown and dance music, a spokesperson for the city said.
Concertgoers should bring a blanket or chair and are allowed to bring their own food, beer and wine to have during the show. There will also be food trucks rotating throughout the summer. This week will feature El Jalapeno, PizzaMI, Desi’s Tropical Sno Shack, Patty Matters and Eastown Ce
