Hundreds of hardcore video gamers waited in hours-long lines from Wednesday into Thursday for the newest Nintendo game console, the Switch 2.

Large crowds could be spotted waiting outside several electronic stores, including Best Buy and GameStop, on Union Square since early Wednesday morning. Bringing camping chairs and dressing in Nintendo apparel, the first in line spoke to amNewYork about why it was important for them to pick up the console at midnight.

“I’ve been a Nintendo fan since I was a little kid growing up, it was the only system that I ever had, and I'm really excited for the Switch 2,” Jason Araujo said as he waited with hundreds of others outside of Best Buy.
