(WIVT/WBGH) - A trio of comedians is coming to the Schorr Family Fire House Stage on Friday to share some laughs and celebrate Pride Month.
Julia Scotti and Poppy Champlin are headlining the theatre's Pride Comedy Show, along with fellow comedian Danny McWilliams.
The veteran comics all identify with the LGBTQ+ community, breaking down several barriers in the industry.
Scotti was the first out transgender comedian to perform on national television and Champlin tours the country with her production "Queer Queens of Qomedy." McWilliams, a New York City favorite, is known for his work with Funny Gay Males.
Scotti says good comedy has nothing to do with gender or sexual orientation, what matters is if you're funny.
"The reason I don't come out until about ten, fifteen minutes into my act
