ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - Secretary of the Army Daniel P. Driscoll said there will be net growth at the Rock Island Arsenal as the military reorganizes its bases around the globe.

The comments came Thursday morning during a Senate committee meeting.

Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth asked Driscoll about how many people would be impacted by proposed cuts at the Rock Island Arsenal and the timeline of the implementation.

“I would actually hypothesize there would be growth at Rock Island on a net basis,” Driscoll said. “But combining those units, they’re working on the plans right now.”

The military has plans to combine the Joint Munitions Command and Army Sustainment Command, eliminating about 400 jobs.

Driscoll said details will be provided when they become available.
