McHENRY, Ill. (WLS) -- A 44-year-old McHenry man was arrested after an hours-long standoff in the north suburb Thursday, police said.

McHenry police said Patrick J. Anderson was the suspect in two burglaries in the 1200-block of North Green Street in McHenry.

Officers responded to Anderson's home, in the 3400-block of Venice Avenue Thursday morning, and he would not come out, police said.

McHenry police said in an alert just before noon that officers were in the area of Venice Avenue and Court Street, and asked the public to avoid the area for the next several hours

Police said Anderson is a convicted felon, with a history of resisting police and he may have a gun.
