GARFIELD — Douglas County sheriff's deputies broke through a vehicle's window to rescue the driver who was experiencing medical problems near Garfield on Thursday, June 5.

Just before 8 a.m., Douglas County dispatch received a 911 phone call about an unresponsive male behind the wheel of the vehicle. The caller told dispatch that the man, later identified as Ferris Wayne Chamberlin, 72, was in the vehicle in the middle of the road on County Road 12 and Aldrich Road.

His vehicle was in drive and the doors were locked, the caller said.

When deputies arrived, they were able to break through a window of the vehicle and began life-saving measures, according to a news release.

Chamberlin was taken by North Memorial Ambulance to Alomere Health. His condition is unknown at this time.
