High School Sports

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Elmira Kiwanis Club honored some of the top athletes and coaches in the area today at their annual luncheon in Elmira. These athletes have gone above and beyond not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and the community.

Dick Senko Male Athlete of the Year : Anthony Kitching - Elmira High School. Anthony is a member of the soccer, basketball, and track and field teams, and he's also risen to top five in his academic class. He will attend Syracuse University.

"It takes a mental strain. It's a lot of grit and it's a lot of courage. Things get hard, but you know what they say sunshine all the time creates a desert. So what's life without a little rain?" remarked Kitching on earning his academic and athletic achievements.
