It was another major passage in life, a day to remember, for some 60 adults who received diplomas and more than 45 others who received medical tech certificates and graduated Wednesday from Muzetta Thrower Adult Education Center in Vacaville.
For Noelia Gomez, student of the year at the Vacaville Unified campus and a featured speaker during the 6:30 p.m. commencement, it was an extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime event.
Shortly after her remarks, standing behind her on the stage on Jacob Wright Field at Will C. Wood High School, Abraham Arreola, partner and a clinical medical assistant, then surprised her by taking a knee and proposing marriage. She said, “Yes.”
