SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Missouri Rural Letter Carriers are holding their statewide meeting this week. One of the topics regards the potential privatization of the United States Postal Service.

Recently, a former board member of FedEx has been named to head the USPS as the 76th Postmaster General. With the appointment of David Steiner, concerns from the Missouri Rural Letter Carriers Association about the possible future of the USPS and privatization are still at the top of their minds.

Joan Carroll, the state president of the state association, says that if privatization occurs, the service that many in rural areas rely on will disappear and be replaced by profits. “For some people, they’re their only human contact that they have all week, maybe.”
