KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Liam Doyle may have a very busy summer ahead of him.

Tennessee’s Friday night starter has been named one of four finalists for the 2025 Dick Howser trophy. The award is voted on by members of the National College Baseball Writers Association and is presented to the top player in college baseball.

Doyle is the only pitcher up for this year’s award. Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky and Florida State shortstop Alex Lodise are the other finalists.

Earlier this week, Doyle, along with Aloy and Lodise, were named finalists for the Golden Spikes Award.

Doyle’s 158 strikeouts lead the nation and are the most in a single season in Tennessee history. The left-hander has posted a 10-3 record with a 2.84 ERA in 2025.
