SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Tesla shares took a tumble in the markets Thursday as simmering tensions between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump blew up into a heated war of words. On a day when the Tesla CEO accused Trump of being named in the Epstein files and Trump threatened to pull Musk's government contracts, Tesla shares dropped over 14% at close, falling from $47.35.

Tesla shares continued to drop in after-hours trading and at the time of this writing were down another 2.33% or $6.63. Tesla shares opened the day Thursday at $329.71 and closed at $284.70 before the after-hours drop.

With the markets closed, the two powerful men continued to lob social media salvos at one another.
