FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — Gov. Andy Beshear made a sad announcement on Thursday about another casualty of a devastating tornado that touched down from May 16 to 17 in southeast Kentucky.

Beshear posted on Facebook around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday to announce that the latest death was a man from McCracken County.

"Please join Britainy and me in praying for his family and all those affected," he wrote.

The tornado also took the lives of 17 Laurel County residents, 69-year-old Melodie Godby from Pulaski County, and 93-year-old Debra K. Edelman of Richmond, Indiana, who lived in Russell County.

The tornado, which was nearly a mile wide at its peak, was one of the largest and strongest tornadoes to hit the state in over 50 years.
