COMANCHE COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A deadly overnight fire drew multiple emergency response teams to a rural property south of Lamkin.

Shortly after midnight on June 4, Comanche County EMS, the Sheriff's Office, and fire departments from Energy, Gustine, Comanche, Proctor, and Hamlin responded to a structure fire south of Lamkin on County Road 286.

According to the Comanche County Sheriff's Office, two individuals were attempting to evacuate the residence when the 79-year-old homeowner fell near the home. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, the homeowner succumbed to their injuries. Their identity has not yet been released.

The Comanche County Sheriff's Office and the Texas State Fire Marshals Office are investigating this incident.
