HOUSTON – A major two-vehicle crash left multiple people injured and 300 customers without power after a powerline was hit during impact on a road in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The two-vehicle crash was reported around 2 p.m. in the 9300 block of Fondren Road.

Police arrived to the scene and saw one truck flipped over, a car split in half and a downed powerline.

Nearly 300 customers have no power due to the crash.

A couple were inside the car and a man was driving the truck, according to HPD. Everyone was transported to a hospital and one woman is in surgery.

Police believe the vehicles were possibly racing, both going south on Fondren.
