During the Nebraska Air National Guard's drill weekend set to begin Friday, the 155th Air Refueling Wing will conduct a combat readiness exercise at the Lincoln Air National Guard Base.

"Combat readiness exercises are a vital part of ensuring our airmen are ready to respond to real-world missions," said Col. Christopher Hesse, commander of the 155th Air Refueling Wing in a news release.

Lincoln residents may notice increased activity in and around the base starting Friday through Sunday. Personnel movements, tent setups, vehicle traffic and loud explosions may be expected as part of simulated scenarios.

The exercise is used to assess the wing's deployment readiness to aid wartime operations.
