WASHINGTON — Yamaha has expanded its recall on golf cars to now include more than 352,000 vehicles due to a crash hazard. The recall is an expansion to previous recalls dating back as early as 2018 after the company discovered a crash risk.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the accelerator pedal spring on the impacted vehicles “can fail to return to idle when a consumer stops pressing the accelerator pedal, posing a crash hazard.”

Yamaha initially recalled 306,000 vehicles in 2018, 5,000 in 2022 and 11,000 in 2023. The recall has now been expanded to include model year 2016 Yamaha Drive Gas/Electric, model years 2017-2024 Drive 2 Gas/Electric, model years 2016-2018 Adventurer, and model years 2019-2024 UMAX golf car vehicles.
