A work-release prisoner in Tangipahoa Parish walked off a job site Thursday, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were searching for Donald Ray Wilson, 42, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Wilson, who is from the Tickfaw area, is serving time for a parole violation as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, authorities said.

The Sheriff's Office was notified some time after noon Thursday that Wilson was seen leaving his job site in the 51000 block of U.S. 51 in Tickfaw. He was wearing gray sweat pants, Nike shoes, and a black and gray jacket and was headed north on foot.

Wilson is in a program that allows select Department of Corrections inmates to work jobs with partner businesses outside of the jail.
