TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — President Donald Trump has put a travel ban into place for people trying to travel from 12 nations into the United States and restrictions on people traveling from seven others.
The ban impacts people coming from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
A spokesperson from the U.S. State Department said the ban is needed to protect U.S. citizens and American interests.
"In these countries, the U.S. Government and our national security agencies, have deemed that the countries on this list do not have the proper vetting or screening procedures to allow the U.S. Government to feel confident that their nationals can enter the United States and not pose a security threat," said Mignon Houston w
