QUEENS, N.Y. -- St. Peter’s won’t be defending its CHSAA Intersectional crown.

That after the No. 5-seeded Eagles succumbed to Iona Prep, 4-0, in the losers’ bracket final of the double-elimination Intersectional Tournament Thursday at Monsignor McClancy.

The win vaulted the No. 3-seeded Gaels into Friday’s championship round at Fordham University, where Iona Prep will have to beat unbeaten Archbishop Molloy twice.

The Eagles’ season, meanwhile, came to an end, thanks to IP hurler Brandon Stabile who has been used as a closer and starter this season.

Stabile went the distance, tossing 98 pitches (66 strikes) and allowed five hits. He struck out four and walked two.
