SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire on Tully Street on Thursday afternoon.
Deputy Fire Chief Nick Pagano said crews were dispatched to the fire around 5:20 p.m. Pagano said crews encountered heavy smoke coming out of the house.
He said everyone inside the house was able to make it out safely, but an elderly woman required medical evaluation and another resident suffered smoke inhalation. They were transported by ambulance to the hospital. Pagano said he was told the two of them are in stable condition.
Pagano said most of the damage in the house was contained to the kitchen. Pagano did not say what caused the fire but an oven with what appears to be be burn marks on it was found just the home. It's unclear if the oven was the source of the fire.
