JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL)-- The Team Illinois Youth Police Camp is receiving funding to support the camp, which aims to teach children essential skills.

They are getting $20,000 courtesy of the Jackson County National Opioid Settlement Fund.

This money is helping lower the attendance cost to $25 per camper.

Our team met with Justin Haney with the Illinois State Police.

He says they have 35 campers signed up for this year's event, which he feels will be a memorable experience for all.

“Our camp motto is teamwork, commitment, and pride,” Haney says. “The peers are youth from the same communities that they are.
