A jury deliberated only 22 minutes Thursday before convicting a 33-year-old man of first-degree murder, attempted murder and other charges for his bizarre, violent knife attacks on two people in Roseville and St. Clair Shores.

Shane Burns will be sentenced to life without parole for his first-degree murder conviction for the 2023 slaying of Cheryl Ann Ryan-Parsley, 60, of Roseville, following a six-day trial in front of Judge Jennifer Faunce in Macomb County Circuit.

He also was convicted of attempted murder for his attack of Robert Baecke, 42 at the time, near his St. Clair Shores home, as well as charges of disarming a police officer and several weapons offenses.
