TOLEDO, Ohio —
Lucas County Children Services is hoping to have a levy on the ballot during this November's election.
The request was presented to the Citizens Tax Levy Review Committee, which recommended moving the levy to the commissioners. The commissioners still have to give the final go-ahead.
The levy will go to the commissioners by no later than July 1 to decide whether it will appear on the ballot.
Children's Services is asking voters for their support of a 1.8 mill renewal levy. This would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $63 per year.
Officials with LCCS said the organization needs the money due to rising costs in the community.
"It is absolutely necessary," said executive director Randy Muth.
