Sixty years ago, Edison left-hander Richard Slicker had one of the top seasons by a pitcher in state large school history.
How sensational was Slicker's spring of 1965?
Slicker was so impressive that he was the Oklahoman's state player of the year, edging out Hall-of-Famer Johnny Bench of Binger.
On Thursday, Slicker and 10 others plus the 1973 Booker T. Washington football team, represented by Lamar Burks, were inducted into the Tulsa Public Schools Athletics Hall of Fame. The 13th annual induction ceremony was at the DoubleTree Tulsa at Warren Place.
