(WHTM) -- The wait for gamers is over as Nintendo launches its first new console — the Switch 2 — in more than eight years.

Many people throughout the Midstate camping out Wednesday night for the midnight release.

"I cannot wait for the Switch 2 baby," said Nathanael Marengo of Harrisburg.

And he is not alone, many are just as eager to get their hands on the new console!

"I mean, ever since they revealed it, I've been very excited,” said Nicholas Horney of Harrisburg. “I love Nintendo. I buy all their games, all their products."

The original Nintendo Switch came out 8 years ago, in 2017.

"We got our food, and we just came over,” shared Kaylin Brant of New Cumberland. “We actually went to Target and bought chairs."
