ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Residents of Vine City on Atlanta’s west side protested a planned Georgia Power substation on Thursday.

The site, scooped up by Georgia Power at the corner of Northside Drive and Magnolia Street, is less than a mile away from another of the company’s substations, also in Vine City.

“We already have one on the corner of Joseph E. Boone and Northside,” said Steven Muhammad, who has lived in Vine City for over 40 years and is with the Vine City Civic Association. “So we’re saying no, go somewhere else.”
