SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — An inmate at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail pleaded guilty to criminal solicitation after he allegedly tried to get a man to kill his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

Lorenzo Gutierrez pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree felony criminal solicitation to commit murder on Thursday, the second day of his four-day trial, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office said.

On April 2, 2020, a detective with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office reportedly received information that Gutierrez, an inmate at the adult detention center, approached a man about soliciting someone to murder his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

Gutierrez offered to pay for the murders with cash and drugs, the district attorney's office said.
