CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The family of a 17-year-old girl killed in a drive-by shooting is demanding justice and calling on the community for help as police continue investigating the weekend tragedy.

Nevaeh Carter was shot and killed early Saturday morning while inside a car on North Graham Street in Charlotte. Her parents described her as a beloved teenager who had her whole future ahead of her.

"She was a beautiful soul inside and out. Goofy, funny, outgoing, Nevaeh was the perfect child," Jamie Cureton, her mother, said.

The shooting has left her father, Tyrone Carter, struggling to process the loss. He said he had spoken with his daughter just days before her death.
