Valley motorists are getting a bit of a break from ultra high gas prices so far this summer due to cheaper oil prices, according to Julian Paredes, a AAA spokesperson.

In fact, June gas prices are at their lowest in four years, according to the AAA website.

As of June 5, Glendale is averaging $3.46 per gallon — 33 cents per gallon cheaper than this time last year when the average price was $3.79 per gallon, the website stated.

In Peoria, gas is 36 cents per gallon cheaper on average than it was last June, according to the website.

“Gas prices going down (this time of year) isn’t typical,” Paredes said.

In May, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries started boosting its oil production, which is keeping higher gas prices at bay, the AAA spokesman said.
