It’s extremely rare in baseball or softball to come across an everyday player who reaches base in two-thirds of his or her at-bats. That’s what makes the season that Luna Taboas had for Montverde Academy so special.
In 104 at-bats (110 plate appearances), Taboas reached base safely 69 times for an on-base average of .663, a phenomenal number marking an impressive season for the Georgia-bound senior shortstop. That’s one of the reasons Taboas is the Sentinel’s Orlando-area Softball Player of the Year .
“She is just an all-around star. Everything from her in the classroom to her on the field and as one of our captains, she just shines,” Montverde coach Kahley Armstrong said. “She is one of those players who only comes around once in a while. She works harder than everybody out there an
