WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The chief judge of a federal appellate court has dismissed a complaint of alleged “aberrant and inappropriate conduct” against a federal magistrate in Waco in the wake of the magistrate’s recent retirement.

In a three-page order issued May 29, Chief Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says that action on the complaint is no longer necessary “because of intervening events” that have concluded the inquiry.

The judge’s order only refers to the “subject judge” who was under investigation and identifies him only as a United States magistrate judge. However, the order refers to former U.S. Magistrate Jeffrey C. Manske, who went on indefinite medical leave after an unspecified incident in December 2024 and was treated at an in-patient medica
