AUGUSTA, Ky. (WKRC) - Shops and restaurants in the river town of Augusta, Kentucky, are feeling the economic impact of the ongoing closure of the Augusta Ferry, a crucial link across the Ohio River.
The ferry, which connects Kentucky and Ohio, has been out of service for several weeks due to necessary repairs, leaving local businesses seeing fewer customers than expected in the tourism-driven town.
Asia Fath, owner of Tabletop Traditions Restaurant and Gifts, opened her establishment in March, hoping to capitalize on the tourist season.
"We've had a good local following, so we've had a good crowd. Our lunch crowds have been great and we usually have an early dinner crowd. So, business has been great. I'm very pleased with how it's been going," said Fath.
