JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — Tariffs on steel are set to impact many in Mid-Michigan, and in Jackson, businesses are bracing for these changes.
"There's a lot of unknowns from a manufacturer standpoint, as well as a consumer standpoint," said David Flack, President of Sales at Salco Manufacturing, where workers produce steel, wire, and car-based products.
Steel and aluminum tariffs are set to double from 25% to 50%.
"That affects our margin drastically because, you know, all those jobs and everything were quoted based on, you know, a set number, and now we're looking at an extra 25% that was put on to that," Flack said.
The impact of the tariffs is one of the main factors that Flack says is driving the auto industry right now.
"There's a lot of growth and innovation and outside factors tha
