SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Four Winds Field will have a special celebration on Friday night.

For over a decade, Beacon Children’s Hospital has partnered with the South Bend Cubs to make dreams come true.

Every year, six different kids who have been treated at Beacon Children’s Hospital are given a spotlight at Four Winds Field for their strength and bravery.

And the first kid this year is a boy named Malachi.

Malachi has grown up around some sporty siblings and has already been to a few South Bend Cubs games, so there’s no doubt he’s excited for Friday.

And Malachi’s story is extra special because one of the NICU nurses who took care of him is the same woman who adopted him!
