Seattle-area organizations are waiting to learn how a court ruling against the Trump administration’s AmeriCorps cuts may affect their local operations.
U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman sided with Washington and two dozen other states Thursday, ordering a preliminary block on the cancellation of AmeriCorps grants in April and the early discharge of corps members who do community service work throughout the country
“We’ll continue this fight until the Trump administration finally respects the rule of law and the value of community service,” Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown said in a news release about the ongoing lawsuit over spending by the federal government’s service agency.
Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson didn’t immediately comment on Boardman’s ruling. AmeriCorps didn’t
