A recently fired Federal Way man who reportedly entered his former Kent workplace while brandishing a gun and threatening employees was killed Thursday afternoon in a shooting that may have involved police officers.

Multiple people called 911 to report the 55-year-old had entered a warehouse in the 6600 block of South 216th Street with a gun and a gas can, Kent police said in a statement on social media Thursday afternoon.

Police and SWAT officers surrounded the building and found the man inside the warehouse holding a gun at his side. Officers who had entered the structure announced they were leaving after noticing multiple fires burning inside the warehouse, according to the statement.
