Josue Anguiano, 31, of Santa Maria, who was arrested in connection with a fatal June 3 shooting and stabbing incident on North Western Avenue, was charged with murder and attempted murder by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office on Thursday.

The Santa Maria Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing in the 200 Block of Western Avenue Tuesday, where they found one man suffering from stab wounds and another who had been shot in the torso.

The victim with the gunshot wound, identified as 24-year-old Santa Maria resident Julio Sanchez, was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center where he later died.

The man who was stabbed, identified by the DA's Office as Pedro Sanchez Rojas, suffered injuries in the attack but was listed in stable condition by SMPD.
