AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Jacquie Marler a local woman is getting ready to give away her kidney to a man who was once a stranger just a few weeks ago.

Marler went to visit her friend Vicky Van Horn she heard about Steve Mattoon who had been waiting on the kidney transplant list for many years and had not been able to find his match.

"She was telling me she had a friend from Laguna Beach who was on the kidney transplant list for years and had B-positive blood, and they were having difficulty finding him a donor. And I was like, Okay, I'll do it because I have B-positive blood," Marler.

Steve Mattoon has been on the kidney transplant list for many years, once in California and now in Florida.
