State Rep. Carolyn Jackson, D-Hammond, is set to work with other Midwest state lawmakers and industry experts over the next two years trying to craft more informed energy and environmental policies.

Jackson announced Thursday she's been appointed to the Energy and Environment Committee of the Council on State Governments' Midwestern Legislative Conference.

The four-term lawmaker said she looks forward to building on her experience serving on the Indiana House Committee on Environmental Affairs and Committee on Natural Resources by collaborating on a bipartisan basis with legislators from nearby states on environmental issues whose impacts rarely are contained to just one state.
