At one point in time, Kyle Teel had to have expected this call to come from the Boston Red Sox.

Instead, Teel received a much-deserved call up to the big leagues with the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo . The 23-year-old catcher will have a chance to make his MLB debut Friday night when the White Sox host the Kansas City Royals at Rate Field.

Teel, who was a top prospect with the Red Sox after being drafted 14th overall in 2023, was the main trade piece Boston used along with three other prospects to obtain ace starting pitcher Garrett Crochet this offseason.

Teel was ranked as the No. 26 prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline and proved worthy of his promotion with a terrific showing for Triple-A Charlotte this season. He batted .295 with a
