A banner season for high school track and field in Washington continued at the 4A/3A/2A state track and field championship meet in Tacoma.

Twenty-one meet records were set over the three-day meet over the weekend at Mount Tahoma High School.

Two came from Southwest Washington athletes. Prairie’s Will Foster broke 3A’s longest-standing meet record when he won the boys discus Thursday . His winning throw of 194 feet, 4 inches surpassed the 1979 mark of 193-8 set by Clarkston’s Gary Leffler. The boys discus state meet records in Class 4A and 2A also were broken.

Friday, Camas’ Karina Cooper won the 4A girls pole vault with a meet-record jump of 13-2, surpassing the previous record of 13-1.50 in 2022. She was one of three Camas athletes to win state titles, joining Chase McGee (4A boys
